The Basic Skills class is an introductory class that will introduce and explore elemental alchemy. The class can be continued on as the Spring Mini Immersion for those students who have time to delve deeper into the skills.

Using our heads and hands we will create a number of useful items such as fire kits, stone blades, bone awls, cordage, burn bowls and carved utensils.

With our hearts and voices we will weave an unforgettable story that you will carry for a lifetime.

The focus of this class is on Stone Age techniques but if you are new to these skills we will also give an introduction to metal knife, saw and axe use, safety and maintenance.

With the use of simple tools and time tested techniques we

  • Cut stick with stone,

  • Coax fire from wood,

  • Shape wood with fire,

  • Carve bone with stone,

  • Twist rope from wood,

Breakfasts and dinners are provided. Students should bring their own snack lunches that can be packed for excursions and do not require cooking.
